Veterinary Emergency Referral Center

This is my sweet n' spicy Mavis! She was 2 and we brought her in with unexplained tremors. The vet and staff were so kind and tried all they could do to find out what was wrong. I called in on the next to check and see how she was and it was not good news and the vet recommended we come up there to make the best decision for her. She was not well and struggling to breathe. I made the choice to help her crossover the rainbow bridge. They're were so compassionate and understanding of me holding her.

The lady at the front desk saw me standing there while she was in an adjacent room. I had to raise my voice a little to get her to come talk to me. Meanwhile my cat is having a hard time breathing. I told her what happened. She didn’t seem worried at all and told me it was a 45 minute to an hour wait. I felt like a cat not being able to breathe should hurry things along. It didn’t. So I drove across town to the urgent care off of flood. Well by the time we got there it was too late. This place is the absolute worst. Wasted precious minutes that could’ve saved my cat.

I brought my dog to this emergency clinic after he suffered from what we now know was anaphylactic shock. While he was beginning to stabilize during the drive, he still presented at this clinic with serious red flags: recent collapse, vomiting, an involuntary bowel movement, and very pale gums. He needed monitoring to ensure he didn’t crash again. The clinic’s response was negligent. After a poor interaction with the vet upon check in, I was placed in an exam room and told vitals would be taken shortly. For 45 minutes, nothing happened. My dog received zero monitoring. No vitals, no assessment, no one even checking to ensure he remained stable. Mind you the clinic was also completely empty. There wasn’t a single patient in the waiting room or other exam rooms. This is the critical failure. A dog recovering from anaphylaxis can deteriorate suddenly. Without monitoring, the clinic had no way to detect if he was relapsing into a life-threatening state. When I went to check on the wait, I couldn’t find one staff person or vet. I left immediately for an OKC emergency vet, where Obi was seen in less than 30 minutes. Bloodwork showed elevated liver and other values which required an overnight hospitalization, IV fluids, and medication. Most alarming: the first clinic never even knew we left! No follow-up call. No outreach. No accountability. They were so absent that they didn’t notice when a patient in an exam room walked out the door. Monitoring is essential for post-anaphylaxis patients. This clinic’s failure to provide any care, combined with their complete lack of awareness of their patients, represents a serious failure in emergency medicine.
